The children of Jane LATHROPE and Edward MORTON were:

1.... Edith Mary MORTON, born 2 Jan 1874 at Longwood, Huddersfield, Yorkshire she married, on 31 Dec 1898 in the Wesleyan Methodist church at Gledholt, Huddersfield, Charlie SHAW (born 1872) a Wool Fettler then living at Scape Goat hill, Golcar in Huddersfield. She was a Woollen Weaver at the time of their marriage. By 1900 he had become a Woollen Carder.  Their children.

2.... Lathrop MORTON. Born 23 Jun 1876 at Longwood, Huddersfield, he died 10 Dec 1886 at Longwood Gate, Longwood, Huddersfield, aged 10 years. His Death Certificate.

3... William Ewart MORTON. Born 14 Apr 1879 in Longwood, Huddersfield he was still living with his father Edward MORTON at 153 Longwood Gate, Longwood, Huddersfield in 1901. He then married, on 23 Mar 1907 in Huddersfield, Lilian IREDALE (born 7 May 1886 in Longwood, the daughter of Jabez Iredale, a mill owner, and Sarah Townend). Lilian's parents did not approve of the marriage and when she died, on 23 Jun 1915, their children were sent away to live with relatives or friends. William Ewart MORTON died 19 Apr 1943 of coronary thrombosis, arterial sclerosis and chronic bronchitis, while working  as a labourer in the Army Ordinance Depot in Huddersfield. His residence was then in Armitage Street, off Primrose Hill, Huddersfield.  Their children were:

              1.... Gilbert MORTON, born 12 Sep 1907 (Chr 30 Mar1908) in Longwood, Huddersfield he            married, on 9 May 1936 at Huddersfield Register Office, Elsie SURTEES (b.1912/13 the daughter of Herbert Surtees, a boiler firer), woollen winder then living at 83 Myrtle Grove in Meltham near Huddersfield. He was then living 3 doors away at 89 Myrtle Grove and was a woollen piercer by occupation. In 1943 Gilbert was living at 8, The Hollow, Mill Moor Road, Meltham near Huddersfield. Their children.

              2.... Harold MORTON, born 29 Mar 1912 in Huddersfield he married, on 8 Aug 1936 at the Scape Goat Hill Baptist Chapel, Golcar, Huddersfield, Maud LISTER (b.1914/15 the daughter of Fred Lister, a woollen feeder). She was then a woollen winder living at 3, School Road, Scape Goat Hill, and Harold was a weft man (woollen) then living at 12 Grove Street, Longwood, Golcar, Huddersfield. Their children.

              3.....Phyllis MORTON, born 29 Mar 1912 in Huddersfield. She never married.   

              4.....Mavis MORTON, who married Denis HELLAWELL. Their children.
