She met him in about 1960 when his job or training first brought him to Stocksbridge, and they settled there where for many years Donald worked for his father in law Cyril FIRTH. Maureen worked first in the offices at Samuel Fox's steelworks before eventually becoming a mathematics teacher at Stocksbridge. Their children are:
